On 31 January 2026, at the 42nd ETAS Annual Conference, we had the pleasure of leading our workshop, “More than words: The role of culture in language learning.” And what better headline could there be for our beloved Bag of Lexis?
This time, we were lucky enough to play on home ground: the conference took place in beautiful Tenero (Ticino), in the magnificent setting of the Centro sportivo nazionale della gioventù. Surrounded by inspiring scenery and a vibrant community of colleagues, we explored how language learning goes far beyond vocabulary lists and grammar rules.
Together, we reflected, exchanged ideas, and shared practical activities that show how culture is not an “extra”, but the very heart of meaningful communication. Because learning a language is never just about words — it’s about people, perspectives, and the stories behind them.
